Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has again urged his former club to sign Declan Rice. He considered the West Ham midfielder a figure who would mark a new era for the Red Devils.

Manchester United is believed to be doing a team overhaul in the summer. Their manager, Erik Ten Hag reportedly wants to build a new team that can compete with other top European teams.

One of the positions that United need to strengthen is the midfield. The Red Devils lost a number of midfielders this summer so they need a new midfielder stock.

Ferdinand believes that United must do everything possible to get Declan Rice. "United should try to sign Declan Rice, but it all depends on the player," Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE.

Not Mark Noble

Ferdinand knows that Rice is someone who really loves West Ham. But he sanctioned the player would last longer at the London club.

"If he wants to be like Mark Noble who plays only one club in the Premier League, then he will be captain of this team in 10 years. But that is if he really wants to be like that."

"The problem is I don't see Rice wanting to be like Noble. He is a player who wants to prove himself at a bigger club and also fights to win the Premier League."

Sign of a New Era

Ferdinand does not deny that Manchester United's current condition is far from good. But he believes Rice can mark the arrival of a new era at Old Trafford.

"Rice is currently faced with the question of whether he wants to leave West Ham, which is currently not much different from Man United?"

"If he wants to move to United, he will be the catalyst of a new generation of this club that will win trophies and he will be the leader of that generation. But if he wants to win trophies right now, then that move will be a question mark. big," he said.

Expensive price

Manchester United itself is reportedly unlikely to get Rice this summer.

The midfielder is priced at £150 million by West Ham, so Manchester United are reluctant to sign him. /bola.net
